Around the world with Katie Briar

January 11, 2022

Hey, it’s me, Katie B. If you’ve checked out my About Page, chances are, you probably already have a pretty good idea of who I am and what I’m about, but I thought it would be nice to show a little more of my life as we start this journey together. I basically live my life in series of images. It’s fitting considering that’s what I do for a living. Photography bleeds over into all aspects of my life, particularly the adventurous parts. Lemme tell you a little bit about where I’ve been and some of the places I love the most.

As you may have read already, Paris was where my adulthood photography journey was reborn. I was teaching at the time and decided that once I returned home, I was going to take it full time. That summer, I was using an entry level Nikon camera as I solo-traveled around Europe. Years before, after high school, the true start of my photography career, I was working with a Canon Mark ii photographing my very first weddings and senior sessions of friends. I can’t wait to return someday to this amazing city with a professional camera in tow.

Amsterdam was my next stop, followed by London and Berlin. This city is a photographer’s paradise if there ever was one. If anyone wants to elope to Amsterdam, I’ll work for free!

Here are a few of my adventures state side. As long as a camera is around, I’m game. While living in Arizona, I took advantage of exploring the west coast. The first picture down below was taken in Joshua Tree, followed by Seven Magic Mountains outside Vegas.

My favorite place in the United States is without a doubt, Seattle.

But LA and Beverly Hills are definitely worth the visit if you’ve never been. And while you’re there, you might as well visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. If you’re not into that, I’m sorry, we can’t be friends. That’s very anti-Hufflepuff of me, but I said what I said.

Before my move to Savannah, I had to drop in Texas, the home of where my photography career began post Paris. If you don’t hit up a music festival in Austin, then what are you doing with your life? And if you’re driving along the I-10 and don’t stop in Marfa and the Prada store art installation, you are truly missing out on a photo op.

That brings us to Savannah and some cool little locations I’ve found in my new home on the East Coast.

So, where shall I go next?
